Our Story

My family loves food – cooking, baking, talking about dishes and menus, planning family gatherings, and eating. I stand on the shoulders of Bellicchi’s who also loved to cook and enjoyed eating. Our approach to cooking has always been to use the best quality ingredients, simply prepared to coax the essence from each ingredient and deliver it to your plate or bowl. Once you taste our Biscotti, you’ll know what I mean.

My first Biscotti experience was smelling the heavenly fragrant aroma of Almond Biscotti as my mother-in-law, Susan Bellicchi, baked her Christmas cookies.

For years I baked Biscotti for Christmas with my husband Eric. While “grateful” recipients begged for more, baking as a business stayed in the “good idea” category, because we both had careers and busy lives.

Sadly, Eric was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s when he was 58. Baking Biscotti together was a way we could relate despite his diminishing capacities. Further, as friends and family wanted Biscotti year-round, we had a perfect business – demand before selling. The business remained an enjoyable hobby. 

After Eric’s death, I continued what had become my small home-based business.

Five years ago, I started baking for real. I formed an LLC with my son James as a silent partner (hotline when I needed help in the baking process). I joined a kitchen incubator, start up for new food businesses in Warren RI, Hope & Main, Rhode Island’s first incubator kitchen. A haven for new food businesses; its physical surroundings and personal help and support offer a nurturing environment populated by people passionate about food. Working with Hope and Main, I was helping to grow Rhode Island’s local food economy. I sourced local ingredients and sold Biscotti at Farmers Markets and events.

We have outgrown the incubator kitchen and now bake in Glastonbury CT at Maven Foods. Maven’s offers a soft Biscotti product, different from our style and delicious with frosted dips and drizzles.

We bake and sell Biscotti. What makes Bellicchi’s Classic Biscotti stand out is its quality. It has a lovely crunch, it is perfect for dunking, and people can elect to eat one to satisfy a sweet tooth craving or several and still not feel they have “overdone” dessert.  

We are offering two Biscotti flavors to begin and then we’ll add other flavors. If you have a winner Biscotti flavor, let us know. If the ingredient cost is in line it could become our next best seller and provide you with Biscotti for a lifetime, our gift to you.
